Portrait of my mom I made for her Mother’s Day card. It’s based on an old photo of her in her late twenties. My mom has never been much of a drinker, but it’s my favorite photo of her. No special story behind it — it was just an unbearably hot day (like it is everyday) in Brazil. After returning from grocery shopping, she decided to refresh herself and throw back a cold beer. Growing up, many of us usually see our mothers as the bar set for proper behavior and good manners, (emphasis on usually!). This picture simply shows the more spontaneous, human side of my mom.
